Ground breaking held for new Harrison Skyline location

HARRISON, OH (FOX19) - A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Thursday for a new, larger Skyline Chili in Harrison.

The new Skyline location will offer Harrison residents a convenient and updated space where they can enjoy time with family and friends over Coneys and Ways.

Joann Wandsnider, or “Jo-Mamma” as many refer to her, has worked for Skyline Chili for over 28 years at the Harrison location. Wandsinder has a deep-rooted connection to the community donating time and monetary contributions to the local schools and programs that support Harrison youth.

The restaurant is located on Harrison Avenue.

There is no word on when construction on the new Skyline will be complete.

Teen driver in fatal Ripley Co. crash to spend time in juvenile detention

RIPLEY COUNTY, IN (FOX19)- One of the drivers involved in a crash that killed three Ripley County teens was in court on Thursday.

The teen reached a plea deal and admitted to circumstances of reckless driving and reckless homicide.

The teen will spend 90 days at a juvenile detention facility in Muncie, and will be on probation and have his driver's license suspended until he is 21.

According to a police report, the accused teen and the other teen driver involved in the crash, Timothy "Curtis" Bowman, both sped up to run the stop sign at the intersection of CR 850W and Fairground Road on March 7.

Two of the passengers in the charged teen's truck reported that he intentionally sped up to run the stop sign and get through the intersection before Bowman.

Telestroke anniversary celebrated in Lawrenceburg

LAWRENCEBURG, IN (FOX19)- As Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Ind. marked its one-year anniversary with the UC Health Telestroke Network on Wednesday.

"We have had just over 40 patients brought to our hospital who were candidates for the stroke protocol," hospital President and CEO Roger Howard said this week. "That's 40 patients who may have been treated differently a few years ago. It is not a huge number, but one is a huge number if you're the one. The program has changed 40 lives – 40 families — in this community."

House fire in Bright under investigation

BRIGHT, IN (FOX19)- The cause of a house fire in Bright, Ind. is under investigation.

The fire broke out in the 25,000 block of Henderson Road around 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

No one was hurt.

Trial continues for murder of IN woman

LAWRENCEBURG, IN (FOX19)- Testimony continued in the trial of a Northern Kentucky man accused of murdering an Indiana woman.

Charles Stephenson faces life in prison without parole for the murder of 67-year-old Leigh Jennings.

Jennings' body was found on April 5, 2012 in her Aurora home. Police say Jennings had actually been killed days before, on March 29.

Investigators believe Stephenson beat Leigh Jennings to death with a pepper grinder and a skillet in her home.

If convicted, he faces life in prison without parole. Prosecutors say the trial is expected to last into next week.

Stephenson is the nephew of Bill and Peggy Stephenson, who were murdered in Boone County in 2011. Their murders remain unsolved, but Stephenson is not a suspect in that case.

DEARBORN COUNTY, IN (FOX19) - Dearborn County Hospital has unveiled a new logo, one that emphasizes the important role doctors and the community play in the ongoing success of the hospital.  The logo, which is comprised of three interlocking letters- DCH, symbolizes our doctors, community and hospital.

“Our success as a hospital is tied directly to the support we receive from the communities in our service area and from the physicians who choose to practice here,” explained Roger D. Howard, DCH President/CEO.  “As three intertwined entities, we all share in each other’s success.

“We hope that our new logo will be a reminder to area residents and businesses that the continued success of DCH is a direct reflection of their collective support,” concluded Mr. Howard.  “The next time that they need healthcare, we hope that they will think of Dearborn County Hospital first.”
