Police investigating string of recent daytime burglaries

ADAMS AND RIPLEY COUNTY, IN (FOX19) - Ripley County Sheriff's are investigating several daytime burglaries that have recently occured in the Adams and Franklin Township areas.

It is unclear at this time if these burglaries are connected, however some of the same items are being taken from the homes, i.e. jewelry, flat screen TV’s, other electronics, and prescription pain medication.

Burglary locations include the 3000 and 5000 block of east CR 1100 north, 10000 block of north CR 500 east, 4000 block of east CR 800 N, and 5000 block of east CR 700 N.

The Sheriff’s Office is working with other police agencies to develop similarities in the burglaries, and to match evidence, in an attempt to connect the incidents, and develop possible leads. There are no suspectsat this time.

Ripley Co. officials warn residents of scam

RIPLEY COUNTY, IN (FOX19)- The Ripley County Sheriff's Office has been notified by several residents of the county about a scam currently making the rounds in Ripley County.

A man calls to inform Medicare recipients that to receive their new, up-to-date card, the caller needs to verify the Medicare recipient's personal information along with their current banking information.

The call is not from Medicare, but instead a person trying to gather important, personal information for their own benefit.

The Sheriff's Office reminds residents to not give any caller their personal and/or banking information. If anyone does call asking for this information, hang up immediately.

You can also contact your phone provider and request the calling number blocked for your safety and security if you have Caller ID.

Hidden Valley Lake teen found safe

HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE, IN (FOX19) –- The Dearborn County Sheriff's Office has located a 16-year-old girl who went missing.

Melissa Maria Davis, 16, was last seen Monday walking across the HVL dam and POA parking lot and good be headed towards the Valley Woods/Greendale area.

She was found safe.

Coats, Senators to introduce alternative gun legislation

(FOX19)- Indiana Senator Dan Coats, along with two other U.S. Senators, plan to introduce alternative gun legislation.

Coats will join Senators Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and other senators in a press conference to introduce a substitute amendment to gun legislation currently being considered in the U.S. Senate. T

he proposal preserves the Second Amendment while fixing the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, provides resources to help address mental health and school safety, protects veterans from false health determinations and addresses gun trafficking and straw purchasing.

The Senators plan to announce the legislation on Wednesday.

State Police crime scene technician retires after 34 years

IN (FOX19) - A State Police Crime Scene Technician who has dedicated the last 34 years of his life to the service of the citizens of the State of Indiana has announced his retirement from the Department.

Sergeant Michael E. Trittipo, 62, IS a 1970 graduate of South Bend Central High School in South Bend, Indiana. Following high school, Trittipo served in the United States Air Force from 1971 to 1975 which included one tour of duty in Vietnam and an honorable discharge at the rank of Sergeant. He was accepted to the 36th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and on April 15, 1979 he was appointed to the Department as a Trooper and assigned to the Ligonier Post. Trittipo worked patrol duties, serving the citizens of DeKalb County until the closing of the Ligonier Post in 1982.
