Teen badly hurt car-surfing in Jennings County

NORTH VERNON, IN (FOX19) - On Wednesday night at approximately 11:06 PM, troopers from the Indiana State Police Post at Versailles responded to a report of a person injured due to a car crash that occurred inside of the Muscatatuck County Park on County Park Road in North Vernon.

When troopers arrived they found Emily M. Jackson, 20, of North Vernon lying next to County Park Road with serious injuries.

As troopers began their investigation it was discovered that Jackson and another 19 year old female, were both “car surfing” on the roof of a white 2001 Subaru station wagon being driven by Kelsi A. Speer, 19, from North Vernon. As the girls were car surfing, for an unknown reason, Jackson either fell or jumped from the top of the vehicle.

As a result of the falling or jumping, she sustained serious head injuries. She was transported from the scene to the Jennings County, St-Vincent Hospital in North Vernon by Rescue 20.

LAWRENCEBURG, IN (FOX19) - This Leopard Frog seems to be enjoying the weather in the Lawrenceburg area, though it's hard to tell for sure.

The adult Leopard Frog was photographed by Caveman Etris in the Oxbow Conservancy area in Lawrenceburg Indiana, in Mercer Pond.

Leopard frogs are fairly large frogs, though usually smaller than bullfrogs, that eat a wide variety of prey.  The Oxbow Conservancy area straddles the Ohio-Indiana line from Lawrenceburg to Shawnee Lookout Park in Hamilton County..

St. Paul's parish picnic is next week

NEW ALSACE, IN (FOX19) - St. Paul's Parish in New Alsace will hold their parish picnic on August 13th and 14th.

Saturday features a beer garden from 6pm to midnight, with games, food and a live band.  Guests must be 21 to enter.  A pork tendeloin dinner is available for everyone from 5-8pm Saturday.  It's 10 dollars for adults and 5 dollars for children.

Sunday brings a family-style chicken dinner, 11am to 4pm.  Prices are the same as the pork dinner.  Other events will continue until 7:00 p.m.

The church is at 9736 North Dearborn Road.

St. Paul's planning parish picnic for August

NEW ALSACE, IN (FOX19) - St. Paul's Parish in New Alsace is getting ready for their parish picnic on august 13th and 14th.

Saturday will feature a beer garden from 6pm to midnight, with games, food and a live band.  Guests must be 21 to enter.  Available for everyone from 5-8pm Saturday is a Pork Tenderloin dinner, 10 dollars for adults and 5 dollars for kids.

Sunday brings a family-style chicken dinner, 11am to 4pm.  Prices are the same as the pork dinner.  Other events will continue until 7:00 p.m.

Group of 50, many of them blind, to raft the Whitewater

BROOKVILLE, IN (FOX19) - The Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI) knows you don’t have to see through your eyes to experience and appreciate nature’s scenery. In fact its annual inclusive rafting trip has become a favorite tradition for clients, volunteers and staff.  On Friday, July 1, more than 50  people with and without vision will be rafting the Whitewater River from Morgan’s Canoe Center in Brookville, Indiana.

Activities for CABVI’s Raft Trip and Picnic will begin early in the afternoon when everyone will meet at Morgan’s. The raft trip will happen next, and a picnic and games will follow.

Planning assistance for the event is provided by Morgan’s Brookville Canoe Center.

The Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired offers people who are blind or visually impaired the opportunity to seek independence.
