CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Look for RED, the Library Card, to face off with Twister and his other mascot pals at the annual Mascot Broomball game  Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 18, during intermission of the Cyclones vs. Kalamazoo Wings game at U.S. Bank Arena. Doors open at 1 p.m. and the puck drops at 2 p.m.

RED will also be at U.S. Bank Arena Saturday, March 9, for "Library Card Night." LAWRENCEBURG, IN (FOX19) -

The Special Olympics Kentucky State Winter Games kicked off on Sunday.

 

Nearly 100 athletes will compete in the games through Tuesday at Perfect North Slopes in Lawrenceburg, Ind.

Athletes will compete in alpine skiing and snowshoeing events at several different skill levels throughout the week.

Vevay to host Switzerland County’s first Hot Air Balloon Rally

VEVAY, IN (FOX19) - The Ohio River in Vevay, IN will be the backdrop for Switzerland County’s inaugural Hot Air Balloon Rally. The festivities begin on Friday, June 22 and will continue all through Saturday.  Held in Paul Ogle Riverfront Park off of Ferry Street, all events are free and open to the public.

The rally kicks off Friday evening June 22 with children’s activities from 7:30-8 p.m. at the park.  Kids up to age 12 can enjoy glow sticks, glow in the dark games, glow stick balloons, glowing bubbles and more before the Balloon Glow.  The “glow” features one lighted balloon from 8:30-9:30pm.

“We are excited to debut such a unique event here in Vevay,” said Steve Danglade, executive director of Switzerland County Tourism. “We invite locals and visitors to come out and spend some time along the riverfront to enjoy the vibrant balloons and festivities.”

MILLER TOWNSHIP, DEARBORN COUNTY, IN (FOX19) - Hamilton County Special Olympics are holding their annual Ski Training day for athletes on Thursday. This outing is at Perfect North Slopes located in Dearborn County.  Like many other Hamilton County Special Olympics events this is a day of training and will provide many athletes with the opportunity to improve their skiing skills and for many to try skiing for the first time.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - The Cincinnati Reds are touring Reds Country in parts of Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia.  Players, broadcasters, reds executives, and team mascots are split into three groups, with one of the groups touring the western part of the Reds' territory, which means Louisville, Indianapolis, southeast Indiana, and the western edge of Ohio.

Special Olympics Kentucky State Winter Games Returns to Perfect North Slopes

 

DEARBORN COUNTY, IN (FOX19) - More than 100 Special Olympics Kentucky athletes will be in Lawrenceburg, Ind., Jan. 22-24, weather permitting, when the Special Olympics Kentucky State Winter Games hit the snow at Perfect North Slopes.

Athletes from throughout Kentucky will make the trip across the Ohio River to compete in alpine skiing and snowshoeing events at the Games. This will be the 32nd year for the State Winter Games and the 15th consecutive year that Perfect North Slopes has hosted the event.

The 2012 Kentucky State Winter Games kick off at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, with the Opening Ceremonies, which will include the Special Olympics Oath and the lighting of the Special Olympics cauldron.
